What is a Bifurcation of Marriage ?

Bifurcation of Marriage

When a Bifurcation of Marriage occurs in Divorce, it grants a status only. This terminates the marriage or marital status however, leaves all other matters which are unsettled before the court. Generally, this involves a judgment deciding all unresolved issues to be addressed later.

When a dissolution has been Bifurcated, the parties are generally free to remarry if so desired, being that they are no longer technically married to the Ex. Again, the Bifurcation grants a "status only" dissolution leaving other outstanding matters for decision.
