When a Child Support case is open, a case is submitted to the state Credit Reporting System 60 days after the first child support payment was due or a case is opened with an exisiting order.

Family Code Section 4701 requires the Child Support Services to administer a statewide automated system for reporting court-ordered shild support to Credit Reporting Agencies. Agencies for reporting includeL Trans Union, Equifax, Experian and Innovis.

It is important to know that the best way to protect your credit score is to meet your obligation on child support. If you believe the amount in which you are paying is wrong, or arrearages are incorrect, contact our qualified divorce attorneys at the Law offices of Richard Isles
